FAQ

  • How do I assemble my new product? 1947-1953 Chevy
Assembly Instructions The tailgate bench is shipped with the tail lamps individually wrapped and boxed. Remove each tail lamp from its box and install to mounting brackets using the ¼” nuts provided. Note the left (driver’s) side tail lamp has a clear plastic lens that illuminates the license plate. Using the Velcro adhesive-backed button provided, attach the light switch to the bottom of the bench cross-sill. You may also tape the wiring for each light to the back (wall) side of the cross-sill to keep it tidy and out of the way. Please contact with any questions: oiledspoils@gmail.com

Mounting instructions Note: This bench is designed to hold the weight of 2 adults, seated—it must be mounted to wall studs! Please be sure to locate the wall studs in your installation location prior to drilling any holes. 1. Determine the height at which you'd like the top of the bed to be when open. Recommended: 25”-30” for seating bench; 36”-40” for work bench 2. Add 9" to the desired open bench height and mark your wall studs spaced 48" apart at this height. I advise using a 4’ level if available to ensure the mounting screws—and hence the bench—are level. 3. Pre-drill, using a 3/16" bit, for the lag screws; be sure the lag screws are installed into the center of wall studs. 4. Install the enclosed lag screws with a ratchet or power socket driver (1/2” hex), leaving approximately 1/2" of the shaft extending from the wall surface.  5. Hang the bench by sliding the lower slots (open at the bottom) of the mounting tabs onto the extending lag bolts. Be sure the mounting tabs slide completely down so they "bottom" on the lag bolts.  6. Install the upper lag bolts through the upper holes on the mounting tabs; be sure again to pre-drill holes for the bolts with a 3/16" drill (you may drill these holes with the bench hanging on the lower bolts) and check that the lag bolts are installed as close to the center of the wall stud as possible. Tighten the upper lag bolts all the way. 7. Tighten the lower lag bolts all the way. You are now ready to enjoy the bench!
